“As you get older”: Yuvraj Singh’s intriguing take on Rohit, Kohli’s retirement after T20I World Cup

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are undeniably one of India’s most talented batsmen and have made significant contributions to the team's success over the years. T20I World Cup is on the horizon and India are also gearing up to compete in the high-profile tournament. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will be extremely crucial in India’s success at the T20I World Cup.

Former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh touched upon Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli’s future in International cricket. Although, he didn’t delve into as to when both veterans should draw curtains on their international career, but said both Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma should retire from shortest format of the game after T20I World Cup in order to focus on other formats. However, Yuvraj also maintained that they both deserve to take their decisions.

"As you get older people start talking about your age and they forget about your form. These guys have been great players for India and they deserve to go (retire) when they want,” Yuvraj said on ICC.

"I would like to see more younger players in the T20 format, because it gets the load off them (experienced players) playing 50-over (ODIs) and Test matches,” he said.

"After this (T20) World Cup I would like to see a lot of younger guys come into the team and make the T20 side for the next World Cup,” stated Yuvraj.

After India’s loss at the T20I World Cup 2022, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli made their absence from the format and recently made their returns to the T20Is earlier this year against Afghanistan. T20I World Cup is scheduled to begin on June 1 in West Indies and USA.
