IPL 2024, LSG vs RR: Samson, Jurel lead RR to a comprehensive win
Sanju Samson and Dhruv Jurel fired their half-centuries, inspiring Rajasthan Royals to a victory over Lucknow Super Giants by 7 wickets on Saturday at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow. Rajasthan’s chase of (196) got off to a solid start, thanks to the blistering innings from openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jos Buttler scoring (24) and (34) respectively.
The openers laid the foundation for the chase with aggressive strokeplay, setting the tempo early on. After openers’ departure, Rajasthan’s middle order produced match-winning knocks, with Sanju Samson and Dhruv Jurel hitting (71*) and (52*) respectively, and carrying the team over the line with one over to spare.
Earlier, asked to bat, Lucknow Super Giants struggled to build their innings, losing crucial wickets of Quinton de Kock (8) and Marcus Stoinis (0) very early. However, skipper KL Rahul, remaining in his best form, whacked an important knock of (76) from (48), and a 31-ball (50) from Deepak Hooda dragged the side to a formidable score.
