Kohli fires back at critics lambasting him for slow strike rate

Virat Kohli gave a befitting answer to his critics, berating him for his slow strike rate against spin in the ongoing Indian Premier League. Kohli silenced his critics, playing an unbeaten 44-ball 70, involving six boundaries and three sixes. Former cricketers and cricket experts have taken aim at Kohli’s slow scoring rate against spin. Brushing aside all the opprobrium, Kohli fired back at his critics saying he’s only concerned about winning the game for the team.

"All the people who talk about strike rates and me not playing spin well are the ones who love talking about this stuff. But for me, it's just about winning the game for the team. And there's a reason why you do it for 15 years… because you've done this day in and day out; you've won games for your teams,” Kohli said after the match while speaking to the broadcaster.

"I am not quite sure if you've been in that situation yourself to sit and speak about the game from a box. I don't really think it's the same thing. So for me, it's just about doing my job. People can talk about their own ideas and assumptions of the game, but those who have done it day in and day out they know what's happening, and it's kind of a muscle memory for me now," Kohli said.

Virat Kohli forged an unbeaten 166-run partnership, alongside Will Jacks who scored his maiden IPL century off only 41 balls, to take RCB to their second successive victory.
