News

Rinku Singh has been one of the rising power-hitter batters for India over the past one year, having displayed his big-hitting abilities, coupled with highly impressive finishing skills, in the few matches he has played for India. Rinku Singh came into limelight on the back of his rollicking knock in the last season of IPL, cracking five consecutive sixes off the last five deliveries to carry his side (KKR) to victory against Gujarat Titans. In the ongoing season of IPL, Rinku has produced (123) runs in nine games.

Rinku Singh, playing for India, has delivered on expected terms, repaying the faith time and again. India’s squad for the upcoming T20I World Cup 2024 is scheduled to be announced any day, with tournament approaching fast. Rinku Singh’s abilities have undeniably been impressive, compelling former Indian cricketer Krishnamachari Srikkanth to throw his weight behind him.

Backing Rinku Singh, Krishnamachari Srikkanth expressed his optimism, and noted Rinku should be in India's T20I World Cup squad. A lot of credit for the emergence of young talent goes to big-bucks league Indian Premier League as it produces young talent every year.

“A classic example is Rinku Singh. Rinku Singh is a certainty in my 15. He hasn’t got that many opportunities to bat in the IPL but you see his international track record, it’s an amazing track record. Amazing track record in South Africa and with every opportunity he has got. So Rinku Singh has to be a certainty in the 15,” said Srikkanth on Star Sports Press Room Show.

“But if we go by recent form or opportunities, he hasn’t got enough opportunities. End of the day you’ve to forget who the player is and look at what is his track record. Is he a great player, is a deadly player, is he fit? So, Rinku Singh has to be a certainty, he has to get the Visa and he will fasten his seat belt to take the flight to the United States to play the game as one of the 15 members in the side,” he added.
