IPL 2024: Amid playoffs conundrum, SRH host LSG in a high-stakes battle

News

Stakes are all-time high as Sunrisers Hyderabad and Lucknow Super Giants prepare to lock horns in the 57th match of the ongoing Indian Premier League on Wednesday at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. Both teams are stuck with 12 points each as this battle becomes incredibly crucial for them to create the gap in their numbers. With both teams desperate to keep their playoffs hopes alive, this clash is penning out to be a must-win battle for them.

For Sunrisers Hyderabad, it’s been a season of ups and downs. Their reliability on their openers has been immense, though it has produced fruitful results but has also misfired. Getting into this game, they will need their other players to make their impact. One of the other drawbacks they have been witnessing is the inconsistency. They have struggled to find consistency in their performances. But, with playoffs spot within reach, Sunrisers Hyderabad will be looking to put their best foot forward and clinch a vital win. They will enter the game with a defeat in their last outing against Mumbai Indians.

LSG, on the other side, will head into this game on the back of a heavy defeat after being knocked over by Kolkata Knight Riders. Skipper KL Rahul’s form has been a big concern for the team as he has lost his wickets for below par scores in past outings. Other batters too have failed to play the rescue act. Marcus Stoinis has been the only player, who has rescued the team in difficult times with his match-winning knocks. Keeping other things aside, LSG would look forward to making their impact to lift themselves in the points table. The winner of this battle will move to the third spot in the points table, cementing the chances for the playoffs.
