Danish Kaneria on Yuzvendra Chahal's exclusion from Asia Cup

Exclusion of India’s spinner Yuzvendra Chahal from India’s squad for the upcoming Asia Cup 2023 made a lot of headlines. Indian selectors preferred Kuldeep Yadav over Yuzvendra Chahal for the Asia Cup event. India named their squad for the Asia Cup on Monday which marked the return of Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul for the major event. There were also the names of Tilak Varma, Prasidh Krishna in the squad. But, Chahal’s exclusion didn’t fo well with former Indian cricketers criticising the move. However, former Pakistan cricketer Danish Kaneria supported India’s move to leave out Chahal. Kaneria said that the selectors did great by going with Kuldeep Yadav. 

“Yuzvendra Chahal doesn’t deserve to be in Team India right now. He has been very inconsistent. Kuldeep Yadav, on the other hand, has picked up wickets regularly and can be effective in the middle overs. The selectors took the right call by going with Kuldeep over Chahal,” Kaneria said on his YouTube Channel.

Asia Cup will get underway from 30th September with the first match between Pakistan and Nepal. This year, Asia Cup will be played in hybrid model with Pakistan and Sri Lanka being the host. India will start their Asia Cup campaign with the match against Pakistan on September 2.
