ENG vs NZ 2nd T20I: England hope for momentum as New Zealand aim for consistency
After dominating the proceedings in the first games, England will face New Zealand in the second T20I on Friday at Old Trafford Cricket Ground. England had registered a thrilling victory in the first match after beating New Zealand by seven wickets. Looking at the last match, New Zealand had a low-key affair with the bat as all of their top class batters failed to make their mark with the bat. Devon Conway (3), Tim Seifert (9), Mark Chapman (11), and Daryl Mitchell (7) all fell very cheaply. Glenn Phillips showed some class with the bat as he scored (41) runs to take the team to some valuable total. New Zealand had scored 139/9 in 20 overs.
England, on the other hand, chased down the total in just fourteen overs on the back of Dawid Malan and Harry Brook’s superb innings of (54) ad (43*) respectively. Jonny Bairstow had failed to impress with his only 4-run score. Heading into the second match of the four-match series, New Zealand would want to make much-needed rectifications and hope to return with fine form to keep themselves alive in the series. England, on the contrary, would love to continue with their momentum and look to add more pressure on black caps.
England Probable XI: Jonny Bairstow, Will Jacks, Dawid Malan, Harry Brook, Jos Buttler (c & wk), Moeen Ali, Liam Livingstone, Sam Curran, Adil Rashid, Brydon Carse, Luke Wood
New Zealand Probable XI: Finn Allen, Devon Conway, Tim Seifert (wk), Glenn Phillips, Mark Chapman, Daryl Mitchell, Mitchell Santner, Adam Milne, Ish Sodhi, Tim Southee (c), Matt Henry/Lockie Ferguson
