World Cup 2023: Records broken with New Zealand’s brilliant win over England in the opener
New Zealand got off to a blistering start in their campaign of the recently started ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2023. The Black Caps settled for an enormous win against Engalnd in the opening match of the mega event on Thursday at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. It was a win that must’ve given New Zealand a much required impetus going forward into the tournament. New Zealand chased down the 283-run target with no hard efforts as they went past it in (36.2) overs with (82) balls to spare. New Zealand lost opener Will Young for a golden duck but what came after was incredibly astounding. Devon Conway and Rachin Ravindra stitched a 273-run partnership to hand the team an encouraging win. Many records were broken during New Zealand’s win over England. Rachin Ravindra scored (123) runs unbeaten that earned him a big record. Rachin Ravindra scored New Zealand’s fastest World Cup century. The 273-run partnership between Rachin Ravindra and Devon Conway is also the highest partnership for New Zealand in the World Cup. Rachin Ravindra also became the youngest New Zealand batter to score World Cup century on debut. During this process, Devon Conway became the quickest New Zealand batter to complete 1,000 ODI runs
