India’s first game had been washed out due to continuous rainfall and the second match they lost by (5) wickets. Rinku Singh, meanwhile, had played an exceptional innings with his 68-run knock unbeaten in the second game. Rinku’s innings came after India lost their openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill for ducks. Rinku got along with Suryakumar Yadav (56) to play a crucial innings. This was Rinku Singh’s maiden International half-century. Following which, former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar heaped praises on Rinku Singh for his great innings.
“He was. And I think you know what we have seen is that he is getting better when he goes out to play. He hasn’t had the opportunity like he has this time around and had a number of overs to play. He made very good use of it,” Gavaskar said on Star Sports.
“He’s got all the shots in the book. He can hit you off the front foot. He can hit you off the back foot as you see over there, with the lofted shot. He’s got all the shots in the book on the offside and on the leg side. Well, once he gets going, it’s hard to keep him quiet, so it will do his confidence a lot of good to get that first half century,” said Gavaskar.
