Dhananjaya de Silva named Sri Lanka’s Test skipper, replaces Dimuth Karunaratne

Sri Lanka Cricket has made the confirmation about Dhanajaya de Silva being named as Sri Lanka’s new Test skipper. de Silva will replace Dimuth Karunaratne to take over the reins in the longest format of the game. Karunaratne became Sri Lanka’s Test skipper in 2019, leading the team into 30 Tests.
Under him, Sri Lanka registered 12 victories and 12 defeats. Dhananjaya de Silva holds a vast amount of experience with 51 Test matches having been played by him. He has been the consistent all-rounder for the team. He has ten centuries and thirteen half-centuries to his name.
Recently, Sri Lanka had also taken decision to appoint Kusal Mendis and Wanindu Hasaranga as the captains for ODIs and T20Is respectively. Dhananjaya de Silva has become the 18th player for Sri Lanka to lead the side in Tests.
