A commendable all-round show from Mumbai Indians helped them seal a thrilling 9-run win over Punjab Kings on Thursday at Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, Mullanpur, Chandigarh. Suryakumar’s masterclass helped Mumbai Indians put up a greatly formidable total of 192/7 in 20 overs. Yadav blitzed 78 from 53, demonstrating his prowess in the shortest format of the game. Valuable cameos from Rohit Sharma (36) and Tilak Verma (34) gave further boost to the team. Tim David, dealing in boundaries, cracked two boundaries and one six, scoring 14 off 7 deliveries and maintaining a whopping strike rate of 200.

Chasing the target, Punjab Kings got off to a clumsy start, with four of their top order batters losing their wickets one after another. Openers Sam Curran and Prabhsimran Singh were dismissed by Jasprit Bumrah and Gerald Coetzee respectively. Then again, Jasprit Bumrah and Gerald Coetzee struck, getting rid of power-hitters Rilee Rossouw and Liam Livingstone respectively.
