CSK make winning return as Cummins' SRH suffer second defeat in line
Chennai Super Kings made their winning return after beating high-flying Sunrisers Hyderabad by 78 runs on Sunday at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in the 46th match of the ongoing IPL. Skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad continued with his rich form, hitting a spectacular knock of 98 off 54, including ten fours and three sixes. Daryl Mitchell and Shivam Dube stroked 52 and 39 respectively to move CSK to a robust total of 212/3 in 20 overs.
Pursuing the total, SRH’s dangerous openers Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma found themselves in a challenging situation, failing to dominate CSK bowlers, and losing their wickets for low scores of (13) and (15) respectively. Aiden Markram showcased some courage, cracking 32 off 26, but Pathirana got the best of him.
South African batter Heinrich Klassen has been incredibly threatening this season, but he too failed to continue with his explosive form. Pat Cummins' side lost to their second consecutive defeat of the season, amplifying the problems for themselves. SRH batters, at the top of the order, have been unable to fire in last few games that in some ways has threatened their playoffs chances.
