Lately, there have been reports that Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had approached former Indian opener Gautam Gambhir for the Head Coach job. Recently, BCCI also released the advertisement for the post of Head coach. Indian team’s current head coach Rahul Dravid’s term will be ending at the end of the T20I World Cup 2024, therefore, BCCI are in search of a tremendous figure to coach the team. Former Indian player Akash Chopra, sharing his views on Gautam Gambhir, said it’s not a bad choice however he is almost like a strict father.

"Not a bad choice, there is no doubt about that, because he is a straightforward person. He knows how to manage and build a team. I really rate him high when it comes to the auction. However, there will be no auction for the Indian team," Chopra said on his YouTube channel.

"When there is a transition, a new captain is coming, then yes. However, if the team has a lot of seniors already, I will be a little wary because Gauti's style of working is almost like a strict father. When the father is strict, the children have to be a little careful," Chopra stated.

Talking about Gambhir’s current assignment, he is the mentor at Kolkata Knight Riders as they (KKR) have qualified for the playoffs, having topped the points table with their staggering performances. They have been the standout team this season.
