Gary Kirsten slams team Pakistan

Pakistan’s head coach, Gary Kirsten, has criticized the team following their disappointing performance and early exit from the T20I World Cup 2024 being played in West Indies and USA. Kirsten did not mince words in his assessment of the team's underwhelming display in the World Cup, saying there is no ‘unity’ in Pakistan team.

Pakistan, on the other, failed to live up to expectations, starting their campaign on a disappointing note with two successive defeats against USA and arch-rival India. Pakistan started their campaign at this edition of the World Cup as runner-up but made an early exit that in some ways serves as a wake up call for them.

"There's no unity in Pakistan's team. They call it a team, but it isn't a team. They aren't supporting each other; everyone is separated, left and right. I've worked with many teams, but I've never seen such a situation," Gary Kirsten was quoted as saying by Pakistani journalist Ihtisham Ul Haq on ‘X’ (formerly Twitter).

Pakistan, meanwhile finished their T20I World Cup campaign on a winning note after they recorded a hard-fought victory against Ireland in their last group stage match. It was the all-time worst performance of Pakistan, who made it to the final in the last edition of the T20I World Cup.
