Rohit Sharma channels excitement ahead of Super Eight clash
Team India has so far demonstrated formidable consistency in their T20I World Cup campaign, securing a spot in the Super Eight stage with an impressive streak of three victories on the bounce. India’s final group stage match against Canada was washed out due to heavy rainfall. Their performance has been marked by combined efforts and stellar teamwork, fighting their opponents head-on. India went on to record their victories against Ireland, Pakistan and USA.
As India advance further in the tournament, they would aim to carry on with momentum and look to maintain winning form. Ahead of India’s Super Eight game against Afghanistan, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma expressed his excitement for the next stage in the tournament.
"There is real keen-ness in the group to go and do something special. It clearly shows that everyone wants to make a difference and we take our skill sessions quite seriously. There is something to achieve in every skill session that you do. Once we play the first game, we are going to play the next two in 3-4 days. It is going to be a little hectic but we are used to all of this. We travel and play a lot so that is not going to be an excuse," Rohit said in a video posted by BCCI.
"We will look to focus on our skill and what we need to do as a team. We have played a lot of games here. Everyone understands what they need to do. Everyone is looking forward and are excited at the same time," the right-hand opener added.
India will clash with Afghanistan in their first Super Eight game on Thursday (20th June) at Kensington Oval, Bridgetown, Barbados.
