Former Indian player expresses positivity surrounding India’s victory against Australia in BGT

Later this year, India are scheduled to tour Australia to play the high-profile Border Gavaskar Trophy, comprising four Test matches. Clearly, beating Australia in Australia will be a hugely challenging task for India, although they have prevailed over Australia on two occasions before, but the changing nature of the game and growing competition will make it tough for India to demolish Australia.

Notably, this series will be utterly important for both teams considering the World Test Championship final spot. Last year, both teams came against each other in the World Test Championship final, but Australia downed India to come out victorious.

Reacting to India’s chances of victory over Australia in Australia, former Indian cricketer Wasim Jaffer said India have a strong lineup, moreover if the trio of Jasprit Bumrah, Mohamed Shami and Mohammed Siraj remain fit throughout the series, then India have massive chances of toppling Australia. Wasim also highlighted the crucial roles of Arshdeep Singh and rookie bowler Mayank Yadav.  Mayank Yadav, meanwhile, had taken the IPL 2024 by storm with his belligerent bowling.

"If Bumrah, Shami and Siraj stay fit and are able to play most of the series, India have a great opportunity for a hat-trick down under. Arshdeep could bring the left-arm option. And Mayank Yadav dark horse provided he's fit and available. #AUSvIND," stated Jaffer.

India’s first Test match against Australia will get underway from November 22 in Perth. And their second Test match will be a day-night match in Adelaide, beginning December 6.
