Afghanistan to host Bangladesh for three ODIs in November
Afghanistan are set to host Bangladesh for a three-match One Day International (ODI) series in November in the UAE. This series comes as a replacement for the all-format tour that was initially scheduled for earlier this year, as per the ICC’s Future Tours Programme (FTP), but was postponed due to extreme summer temperatures.
Due to the intense heat conditions in India and UAE, where Afghanistan play their home games, Bangladesh had refused to play Afghanistan, leading to the deferment of the series. Now, the three ODIs will be held on November 6, 9 and 11. The venues in the UAE are yet to be confirmed for the ODIs. The ODIs will serve as a key platform for both teams in their preparations for the Champions Trophy.
"Following extensive discussions, both boards have agreed to proceed with just the ODI leg, which will be crucial in both teams' preparations for the ICC Champions Trophy, which is set to take place in Pakistan in February next year," the ACB's press release said.
BCB President Faruque Ahmed stressed that the board was keen on conducting these matches as Bangladesh have only played three ODIs so far in 2024. Bangladesh are scheduled to play three more ODIs later this year against West Indies.
