Bumrah scripts history with his sizzling spell
Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has etched his name in cricketing history after he completed his seventh five-wicket haul in SENA countries to come in level with former Indian cricketer Kapil Dev for the most Test wickets in SENA countries (South Africa, England, New Zealand, and Australia).
Bumrah achieved this remarkable feat during the ongoing first Test against Australia in Perth on Saturday. His brilliant spell helped India bowl out Australia for just 104 in their first innings. With this, India remained in dominant position. In his 18 overs, Bumrah claimed five wickets for 30 runs.
Overall, Bumrah now has 118 wickets in 27 Tests in SENA countries. India’s dominant bowling performance in the first innings was led by Bumrah, who played a crucial role in dismantling Australia’s batting lineup. Bumrah also became the fifth Indian captain to claim a five-wicket haul. Other Indian skippers to have taken a five-wicket haul in Tests are Vinoo Mankad, Bishan Singh Bedi, Kapil Dev, and Anil Kumble.
