Jasprit Bumrah ruled out of Champions Trophy
India’s preparations for the Champions Trophy have been rocked by the news that their star fast bowler, Jasprit Bumrah, has been ruled out of the upcoming showpiece event due to a lower back injury. Bumrah picked up a lower back injury during the final Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Sydney last month.
Following which, he has been on the sidelines since then. Indian management has made a surprising but exciting decision to include pacer Harshit Rana in their squad for the Champions Trophy. Rana, who has been making waves with his massively competitive spells, will be expected to continue with his rhythm. In a bold call, India have also named Varun Chakaravarthy in India’s squad at the expense of opening batter Yashasvi Jaiswal.
The Champions Trophy begins on February 19 in Pakistan. And, India will begin their campaign by facing Bangladesh on February 20. The mouth-watering clash against Pakistan will be played on February 23.
