IPL to begin on March 22: Reports

The cash-rich league Indian Premier League (IPL), according to a Cricbuzz report, is set to begin from March 22 with defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders facing off against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at Eden Gardens. As per tradition, opening match will be held at the home ground of defending champions. 

The final will also be held at the home ground of defending champions. Meanwhile, there has not been any official confirmation from BCCI with respect to IPL 2025 schedule. Kolkata Knight Riders, under the leadership of Shreyas Iyer, won the title last year, beating Sunrisers Hyderabad in final. 

Royal Challengers Bengaluru have handed the captaincy reins to Rajat Patidar and his skills will be valuable as RCB eye a cracking start in their bid to win the maiden IPL title. Ahead of the 18th edition of the tournament, two new venues have been added to the existing ten. Guwahati and Dharamsala will also be hosting few matches of the IPL. 

Rajasthan Royals will have two games in Guwahati, while Punjab Kings will play a few matches in Dharamsala. In the knockout stage, Qualifier 1 and the Eliminator will be held in Hyderabad, while Qualifier 2 and the final will be played in Kolkata.
