Buttler’s ton thumps KKR in a last-ball win
Blasting his seventh IPL ton, Jos Buttler guided Rajasthan Royals to a booming last-ball victory against Kolkata Knight Riders on Tuesday at Eden Gardens. Buttler overshadowed KKR’s dangerous opener Sunil Narine’s hundred to take the team to a two-wicket win. In pursuit of 224, Buttler remained unbeaten on 107, helping RR complete the joint-highest successful run-chase in IPL history and overhauling the target on the last ball, finishing at 224/8 in 20.
Buttler was on the task from the very first ball, slamming six sixes and nine boundaries. Rovman Powell added an important 26 off 13 but was dismissed by Sunil Narine, who was the only economical bowler for KKR returning with the figures of 2-30 from his four overs.
Earlier, KKR had been superb with Sunil Narine slamming a stunning century (109) and guiding the team to a formidable score. Narine was the lone warrior for KKR after none of their batters could muster enough runs. Mitchell Starc, the most expensive player in IPL history, registered the most expensive figures of 0-50 from his four overs.
