PAK vs AFG 2nd ODI: Pakistan eye series with the win in first
Pakistan and Afghanistan will once again be crossing their paths in the second ODI of the ongoing three-match series on Thursday at Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium. Pakistan had totally dismantled Afghanistan in the first match after bundling out them for just (59). Afghanistan were chasing the total of (201) that Pakistan had handed to them. Afghanistan batters struggled a lot while facing a tremendous bowling attack from Pakistan bowlers led by Haris Rauf. Pakistan’s pace bowling attack consisted of Shaheen Afridi, Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf. Haris Rauf had returned with five wicket while Shaheen Afridi claimed two wickets. Naseem Shah and Shadab Khan took one wicket each.
For Afghanistan, Rahmanullah Gurbaz was the top-scorer with his 18-run score whereas Ibrahim Zadran, Rahmat Shah and Hashmatullah Shahidi lost their wickets for ducks. Moving into this match, it will be crucial for Afghanistan batters to brave the Pakistan’s bowling attack and level the series 1-1. Afghanistan’s top-order would be expected to do the bulk of scoring to keep the team alive in the series. For Pakistan, they would want to maintain the momentum going into the upcoming Asia Cup. It was a powerful show of collective performance from Pakistan as their victory in the first match would have given them a lot of confidence. Afghanistan would have a huge task to rebound themselves in the series as they too are up for Asia Cup.
