Former Australian cricketer Matthew Hayden has picked his India’s squad for the upcoming ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2023. There were two surprising omissions into Hyaden’s squad as he didn’t include Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal into his 15-member squad. Hayden decided to draft Axar Patel and Ravindra Jadeja as specialist spinners. In the wicket-keeping department, Matthew Hayden preferred Sanju Samson, Ishan Kishan and KL Rahul.

Notably, Sanju Samson isn’t part of India’s 17-member squad for the Asia Cup 2023 as he has been picked as travelling reserve. In the top-order batters, Hayden included Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill and Suryakumar Yadav. Hayden included Hardik Pandya as specialist all-rounder. Hayden’s bowling line-up consisted of Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj and Shardul Thakur.
