Shubman Gill ahead of the India vs Pakistan clash
Asian Giants India and Pakistan will once again be back in action when they take on each other in the Super Four match of the ongoing Asia Cup on Sunday at R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium. Recently, India and Pakistan had met each other in the third match of the tournament where Pakistan’s bowling attack had given harrowing times to Indian batters. Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf had ripped through India’s top batting line up. Ahead of the match, India’s young batter Shubman Gill admitted the fact that not having played enough against quality Pakistani bowling attack has given them challenging times.
“When you are playing at this level, you play left-armer pacers previously at some point of your career. We do not play Pakistan that much as compared to the other sides. They have a quality bowling attack. When you do not face such a bowling attack frequently and are not used to it, it makes a difference,” said Gill during the press conference ahead of the India vs Pakistan match.
Shubman Gill also touched upon the batting styles of himself and opening partner and skipper Rohit Sharma by noting that their contrasting batting styles make it difficult for bowlers to contain them.
“I am someone who likes to play along the ground in the powerplay. Rohit takes on bowlers aerially. This combination works well for us. How different we are as players makes it difficult for opposition bowlers to contain us,” said Gill.
