India bring in R Ashwin for Injured Axar Patel in their World Cup squad
India have brought in veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin as the replacement for the injured Axar Patel in their squad for the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023. Axar Patel had suffered quadriceps injury during the Asia Cup following which he missed the Asia Cup final and later the three-match ODI series against Australia. In the absence of Patel, Ashwin did great in the Australia series as he returned with four wickets from the two matches. Axar has not been able to make complete recovery as he is still undergoing recovery process. Ashwin will be the spin-bowling option for India alongside Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav.
