New Zealand again showed their determination in their fourth match of the World Cup on Wednesday at MA Chidambaram Stadium after they beat Afghanistan by (149) runs to get to their fourth consecutive victory. New Zealand’s World Cup campaign has been fraught with positivity since the beginning of the tournament as they have come up with amazing performances in all of their past matches that has also put them on top of the points table. Against Afghanistan, New Zealand delivered with collective efforts as their bowlers and batters made a big impression with their brilliant performances. Speaking after the match, New Zealand spinner Mitchell Santner, who is the leading wicket-taker in the tournament, spoke about his catch. Mitchell Santner completed his 100th ODI wicket during the match against Afghanistan that also put him in the list alongside legend Daniel Vettori, however Santner accepted the challenge to go past Vettori. Santner has become the second NZ spinner to have 100 ODI wickets.

“Yeah, It’s obviously nice to get to that milestone. I guess I wasn’t thinking about it too much leading into the game, it’s just about trying to perform my role and do a job out there just like every other game. I think, I’m 200 odd wickets behind him, so it’s going to be a tough challenge to get there,” Santner said during the press conference after the match.

Apart from his performance with the ball, Mitchell Santner also exhibited his brilliance in the field as he took the most amazing catch to dismiss Afghanistan skipper Hashmatullah Shahidi. Santner took the catch while being in flying position.

“I didn’t think I was going to get there at the start, but I guess lucky for me I’ve got very long arms and was able to kind of pluck it out. So yeah, I was obviously happy it stuck and it was at quite a key time of the game,” he said.
