Tons from Warner & Maxwell guide Australia to an emboldening win over Netherlands
Australia bowled out Netherlands for (90) runs to thrash them by (309) runs on Wednesday at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Netherlands were in the chase of a colossal 400-run target but Australian bowlers successfully restricted them to (90) to record their biggest victory of the ongoing World Cup. The decision to bat after winning the toss helped Australia with David Warner and Glenn Maxwell coming up with their centuries. David Warner smashed his second century of the tournament while Glenn Maxwell hammered the fastest century (100 off 40) of the World Cup beating the previous record set by South Africa's Aiden Markram who scored his World Cup century from 49 balls. There were also other good performances from Australian batters in the form of Steve Smith (71) and Marnus Labuschagne (62) who both also helped the team get to (399/8) in (50) overs. Australia's bowling attack too remained impressive with Adam Zampa chipping in with four wickets while Mitchell Marsh took two wickets. The trio of Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood and Mitchell Starc returned with one wicket each.
