Sydney Thunder Women record their consecutive win, beat Melbourne Renegades Women
In the 11th match of the ongoing Women’s Big Bash League, Sydney Thunder Women beat Melbourne Renegades Women by eight wickets to record their second consecutive victory of the tournament on Thursday at Sydney Cricket Ground. Asked to bat, Melbourne Renegades Women put up a total of (147) in (20) overs after losing (5) wickets. Melbourne Renegades Women didn’t have a great start with skipper Hayley Matthews, Harmanpreet Kaur and Josephine Dooley losing their wickets in early succession with their scores of (8), (11) and (15) respectively, but Tamsin Beaumont and Courtney Webb helped the team with their scores of (23) and (31) respectively. Down the line, Georgia Wareham scored (47) runs unbeaten to take the side to a fighting total. Chasing the total, Sydney Thunder Women got the best out of Chamari Athapaththu who hammered (80) runs to set the tone for team’s victory. Tahlia Wilson scored (28) runs to take the team over the line. Sydney Thunder Women are on the confidence mode after their two back-to-back victories.
