Shadab Khan on his World Cup performance

Pakistan’s mediocre outings in their World Cup 2023 campaign drew a lot of criticism for their performance after they failed to qualify for the semi-final of the tournament. After starting off their World Cup campaign passionately, Pakistan slumped with their defeats that dwindled their smooth campaign. One of Pakistan’s best all-rounders Shadab khan too couldn’t make his mark as his performance too remained in disarray. Shadab Khan played in six matches of the tournament where he only got two wickets whereas he leaked (237) runs.

With bat as well, Shadab Khan wasn’t able to do anything differently as he scored (121) runs from (6) matches. Shadab Khan is a game-changing player but his not being into the elements was also a big setback for Pakistan. Pakistan lost their last group stage match against New Zealand where they had the slightest of chances to make it to the semi-final. Speaking on his performance, Shadab Khan asserted about his dull performance as to how it impacted team’s performance.

“I have let myself down, I didn’t live up to my potential as a bowler which has impacted the team’s performance. You always try to win a tournament, this could not happen. We are out of the semifinals. Coaches, players, support staff everyone is disappointed,” Shadab Khan said.

“Whenever a tournament starts, we have to improve in all three departments. As a team, we failed to adapt to modern-day cricket,” added Shadab.
