South Africa’s fast bowler Lungi Ngidi has been ruled out of the upcoming three-match T20I series against India with a left lateral ankle sprain. This is coming as a big setback for South Africa as they are already having a less experienced bowling attack. As per a statement released by Cricket South Africa (CSA), Ngidi has started the rehabilitation process with his provincial team, Momentum Multiply Titans, after being released from the squad. South Africa has added fast bowler Beuran Hendricks as his replacement. Hendricks last played for South Africa in T20Is in 2021. On the whole, Hendricks has played 19 T20Is matches where he has picked 25 wickets. South Africa are scheduled to play a multi-format series against India starting with the three-match T20I series on December 10.
