Former Indian cricketer on Rinku Singh’s batting prowess
India’s young talent Rinku Singh has been able to grab the attention and limelight with his consistent performance since the Indian Premier League 2023 where he came out as one of the breakout performers in the league. Following his successful run in the IPL, Rinku Singh made his cut into Indian team where he has manifested the same amount of intensity and consistency in his performance. Rinku Singh has been seen more of a finisher which is what he has been doing with his brilliant batting. He has led successful chases and finished the game on his own. At IPL 2023, Rinku Singh clubbed 474 runs from his fourteen innings at a strike rate of 149.52. Currently, Rinku Singh is with team India for their tour of South Africa where they are playing three-match T20I series. Former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar heaped praises on Rinku Singh for the amount of efforts he has put to get the opportunity to play for the team.
“Talent - it’s not given to everybody. You can love the game. You can play all day, but sometimes you know you might not quite have the talent, but he has the belief that he couldn’t do it, and that’s what he’s done over the last 2-3 years. Again here in the IPL, he was in and out of a lot of teams when he finally got the opportunity and the way he grabbed it (was amazing),” Gavaskar said on Star Sports.
“And now he’s part of an Indian team. And now there’s so much, so many high expectations of them. They are now expecting him to be another Yuvraj Singh. Rinku Singh - Yuvraj Singh. So if you can do even a fraction of what Yuvraj did for Indian cricket, then he will have done wonderfully well,” said Gavaskar.
