Fatima Sana to captain Pakistan in 2nd ODI amid Nida Dar’s absence due to injury

Pakistan Women teams’ regular skipper Nida Dar has been ruled out of the second ODI match against New Zealand Women after she suffered an injury to her face in the first ODI match of the three-match series. In the absence of Nida Dar, pacer Fatima Sana will captain the team as they look forward to recovering from the loss in the first game. Going into the second game, Pakistan Women will need to come out victorious to level the series 1-1 which will also allow them to keep themselves alive in the series. Meanwhile, Nida Dar’s presence in the third match is yet to be determined. Both teams are scheduled to meet each other in the second T20I on Friday (December) at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch. New Zealand Women, who won the first ODI by a huge margin of 131 runs, will eye a win to secure the series win. Suzie Bates had shone in the first game with her perfectly brilliant century-filled knock.
“It is an honour to lead the Pakistan women’s side in ODIs, although the circumstances are fortunate with Nida Dar’s injury. She has been an inspiration, and I wish her a speedy recovery,” Fatima said in a statement.
“We had a historic T20I series win against New Zealand, and I know the players are eager to perform well in the ODI series too. Although we didn’t have a good outing in the first ODI, we are all geared up to excel in tomorrow’s game.”
Pakistan Women Squad for second ODI: Fatima Sana (capt), Aliya Riaz, Bismah Maroof, Ghulam Fatima, Muneeba Ali (wk), Najiha Alvi (wk), Nashra Sundhu, Natalia Parvaiz, Omaima Sohail, Sadaf Shamas, Sadia Iqbal, Sidra Amin, Umm-e-Hani and Waheeda Akhtar.
