Pakistan team director Mohammad Hafeez didn’t hold back while slamming the “inconsistent umpiring” for the Pakistan’s saddening defeat in the second Test match against Australia on Friday at the MCG. Hafeez asserted that Pakistan could have won the game if it wasn’t for the line-ball calls that gave advantage to the Australia. Enraged Hafeez described technology as the “curse on this beautiful game of cricket”. Mohammad Rizwan was leading Pakistan's chase while playing on 35 when he was given out in the referral decision as Pakistan had needed 98 runs to win the game.

“We made some mistakes as a team, we will take that, we will address those things but at the same time I believe inconsistent umpiring, technology curse, has really given us the result which should have been different. So I feel like these are the areas that need to be addressed rightly. We play this beautiful game of cricket with a natural instinct, and we all know the basics of the game. But sometimes it seems like it’s a technology show. Sometimes it feels like it's a technology show, and I believe it’s the area that needs to be addressed rightly. We played better cricket as a team and we're proud of that," Hafeez said while speaking to media after the match.

“The umpire gave it not out, and there was no very conclusive kind of evidence where the decision has to be turned over. So I don’t know how to say further than this. But this technology is basically putting the curse on this beautiful game of cricket. We need to address it very lightly,” said Hafeez.

Mohammad Hafeez also believed that Pakistan came out with great intent and courage and played better cricket than the other side.

“We prepared ourselves very well. The way the team displayed the courage to take this game in the best possible way. If I sum the game, the Pakistan team played better than the other team in general. Our batting intent was better, and our bowling was hitting in the right areas," noted Hafeez.
