In what turned out to be a remarkably thrilling clash, India thrashed South Africa by seven wickets in the second Test match on Thursday at Cape Town to finish the series 1-1. It was the shortest Test match in the history of cricket that was dominated by India with their collective endeavours. In their chase of 79, India got over the line on day two of the Test just ahead of the tea. In their first innings, South Africa were bowled out for 55 on day one, their second innings saw them lose all of their wickets for 176.

Markram showed a great courage with his century to push South Africa for three-digit total. In a dramatic show on day one where the fall of 23 wickets was witnessed, both teams found themselves equally poised, but the day two belonged to India with bowlers and batters doing their job smartly to dismantle South Africa. India, in their first innings, had scored 153 runs. It was a memorable win for India, but it was a huge disappointment for outgoing Dean Elgar who ended his Test career on a disappointing note.

The Indian bowlers played a pivotal role in setting the tone for the match, taking the complete advantage of the pitch that was yielding uneven bounce. The pace battery, led by seasoned campaigners Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj, bundled out the Proteas for the paltry of score. The quick dismissals highlighted India's bowling depth and versatility, putting them in a commanding position early in the game.
