NZ vs PAK 1st T20I: Babar’s fifty in vain as New Zealand thrash Pakistan

New Zealand kicked off their three-match T20I series against Pakistan by registering their 46-run win in the first game on Friday at Eden Park in Auckland. Babar Azam’s brilliant fifty remained of no use after black caps downed Pakistan with their spirited bowling show. Tim Southee returned with four wickets followed by Adam Milne and Ben Sears returning with two wickets each to bowl out Pakistan for (180) in their chase of a huge 226-run total.
Asked to bat, New Zealand were propped up to a combative total of (226) with the help of Kane Williamson and Daryl Mitchell hammering (57) and (61) respectively to help the side. New Zealand also received Handy contributions from Finn Allen (34) and Mark chapman (26).
Pakistan, in their chase, recorded a brisk start after openers Saim Ayub and Mohammad Rizwan scored (27) and (25) respectively. In the middle-order, Babar Azam kept the team into the game with his 57-run knock, but he failed to gather support from the other end with Fakhar Zaman and Iftikhar Ahmed losing their wickets for (15) and (24) respectively. This was New Zealand’s second-best total at Eden Garden in Auckland.
