Former Indian cricketer slams Rohit Sharma after his Indore outing

Rohit Sharma must be reeling under frustration, having failed to knock off runs in the first two T20I games against Afghanistan. Sharma went for run out in the first game after a horrible mix-up with Shubman Gill standing at the other end, not making any move. In the second game, India set out to chase the total of 172, but Rohit Sharma’s dimension didn’t change, losing his wicket on the very first ball he faced.

Rohit’s empty outings in both the games have not settled well with former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra who slammed Rohit Sharma for not scoring a single run in the series.

“It was extremely surprising the way Rohit got out. He was playing just his first ball. He doesn’t play such shots. The ball went and hit his stumps. He got run out in the last match and was bowled for zero in this match. He hasn’t scored a single run in this series thus far,” Aakash Chopra said on his YouTube Channel.

Chopra stated that Rohit needs to gather momentum as he will need to churn out runs in the IPL, however Chopra said Rohit wouldn’t want to change his batting approach.

“Run-out was not his mistake but the shot selection definitely was. There is no doubt about Rohit Sharma’s form and ability. However, he will have to be in form in the IPL and I feel he will bat like this only. We need 38-40, the runs he was scoring in the ODI World Cup, from his bat,” he stated.
