Lifting the team from a precarious situation, Daryl Mitchell and Glenn Phillips played their match-winning knocks of (72) and (70) unbeaten respectively to take the team over the line. It was the stellar performance from both Mitchell and Phillips after openers failed to provide the team a solid foundation. Both players stitched a 139-run stand to take the team out of adversity.
Earlier, asked to bat, Pakistan were propelled to a passable total of 158 with Mohammad Rizwan hammering a crucial knock of (90) runs amid the failures from their top-class players. Pakistan’s Fakhar Zaman, Sahibzada Farhan and Iftikhar Ahmed didn’t get going with their scores of (9), (1) and (10) respectively. Moreover, Babar Azam, who had registered consecutive three half-centuries in the past games, could only manage to amass (19) runs.
