“Will establish himself”: Sunil Gavaskar about Jaiswal ahead of England Tests series

Already being greatly impressive in the shortest format of the game, Indian youngster Yashasvi Jaiswal is expanding his footprints in the longest format of the game with his impressive batting. Prevoulsy, Yashasvi has played for India in the red-ball format, making great impression with his batting. Jaiswal has played four Test matches for India where he has scored 316 runs that includes one century and one half-century.

Jaiswal has now been included into India’s five-match Test series against England that will begin from January 25th with the first game in Hyderabad. These matches present a massive opportunity for Jaiswal to consolidate his spot in the team. Former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar has also backed Jaiswal to solidify his place in the team.

“Yashasvi Jaiswal will easily settle in home conditions. He’s also a left-hander. I think he’ll establish himself completely in the Indian Test team after this series,” Gavaskar said on Star Sports.

Gavaskar also pitched about Shreyas Iyer to come stronger against England, considering the home conditions. Iyer, however, had struggled during India’s recent Test series against South Africa with just 41 runs across his four innings.

“In the World Cup, Shreyas Iyer batted brilliantly in Indian pitches, so I’m hoping he’ll play similarly at No.5 in the Test series. He batted aggressively, was quite watchful at the start and then his stroke-making after reading the pitch was a delight to watch. I hope he’ll replicate that,” he said.
