In a thrilling encounter in the first T20I, Australian Women secured a resounding victory over South Africa Women by defeating them by 8 wickets in the first T20I at Manuka Oval. Beth Mooney’s blistering 72-run knock unbeaten followed by Alyssa Healy’s 46 outshone South African batters Tazmin Brits’s 59-run knock unbeaten. 

This commanding win has propelled Australia to a 1-0 lead in the three-match T20I series, setting the stage for an exciting competition between these two formidable teams.

Put into bat, Tazmin Brits shone to guide South Africa to the competitive total of (147/6) in (20) overs after their top-order batters failed to carry on with their attack. For Australia, Darcie Brown and Ellyse Perry claimed two wickets each to topple South Africa. 

Chasing the total, Australian openers Beth Mooney and Alyssa Healy started off well for the team with their 72* and 46-run scores. Alyssa Healy, who remained in doubts for the series due to illness, played a composed innings to get the team to a good start. The second T20I will be played on Sunday.
