Ollie Pope’s stay at the crease is keeping England optimistic in the ongoing first Test match against India after they finished the day three on Saturday with 126-run lead. Ollie Pope’s century has also made it sure that India will bat again, chasing the total which England would set.

Ollie Pope braved India’s monstrous bowling attack, negotiating brilliantly to keep England fully alive in the game. England on day three at stumps were 316/6 in their second innings with Ollie Pope and Rehan Ahmed unbeaten on (148) and (16) respectively.

England lost their classy players Joe Root (2), Jonny Bairstow (10) and Ben Stokes (10) for minuscule scores, but Pope led the way to keep England hopeful of giving India a tough fight. For India, Jasprit Bumrah and R Ashwin claimed two wickets each, while Axar Patel and Ravindra Jadeja returned with one wicket each.

Earlier, England scored 246 in their first innings after being put into bat. India, on the other hand, scored (436) in their first innings with Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja scoring (80), (86) and (87) respectively to take India to a huge total.
