AUS-W vs SA-W 1st ODI: After conquering in T20Is, Australia host proteas in ODIs

Australia’s multi-format series against South Africa Women will head into the ODI leg after both teams recently closed out their three-match T20I series with Australia winning the third T20I in a thrilling finish to win the series by 2-1. Australia will be led by Alyssa Healy in the three-match ODI series which will hold significance as this series is the part of (ICC Championship match).

Heading into the multi-format series, Australia had named a 14-player squad for the ODI series. Australia are brimmed with a set of experienced players with Heather Graham, Phoebe Litchfield, Tahlia McGrath and Ellyse Perry featuring among other solid players. 

Australia are almost unchanged, except one change from their T20I series squad against South Africa recently. Alana Kings has come into the squad in place of Grace Harris

South Africa, on the other side, will be led by Laura Wolvaardt who showed great courage leading South Africa from front in the T20I series. Marizanne Kapp, Tazmin Brits and Sune Luus are the other players who will be expected to do the bulk of scoring for the team. 

Taking a look at their previous ODI assignments, Australia are coming off their 3-0 series win on their recent multi-format tour of India. South Africa, on the other side, hosted Bangladesh for the three-match ODI series where they won it by 2-1 after being startled by Bangladesh winning the first game by 119 runs. Murshida Khatun had starred for Bangladesh with her (91) unbeaten. 

Head-to-head

Both teams have played 15 matches against each other wherein Australia carry a commanding record having won 14 of those 15 games after one game was tied.
