AUS vs WI 3rd ODI: West Indies look to play for pride as Australia eye series whitewash

Australia are once again set to face off against West Indies in the third and final ODI match to be held on Tuesday at Manuka Oval. Australia have already secured the series, having registered their victories in the first two games. The Australians showcased their prowess in the first  and second ODIs, securing convincing victories of (8) wickets and (83) runs to leave the third ODI as a dead-rubber. 

Meanwhile, Ben McDermott has been added to Australian squad for the third game following a hamstring injury to Matt Short. In the opening match, Australia demonstrated their batting might, chasing a passable total (231) in (38.3) overs. The top order ,led by Steve Smith, played a pivotal role, with consistent performances from key players. 

Steve Smith (79), Cameron Green (77) and Josh Inglis (65) played superb innings to take the team to victory. West Indies bowlers, on the other hand, struggled to contain the Australian onslaught, failing to restrict Australia. In the second ODI, held on Sunday, Australia came out in a similar fashion, to register their dominating 83-run victory. This time their bowlers Josh Hazlewood and Sean Abbot starred with their three wickets each to bowl out West Indies for (175) in their pursuit of (258)

Going into the final ODI, West Indies will play for pride as they seek to salvage some consolation from the series. Their batting & bowling unit will need to step up and deliver a collective effort to challenge the Australia in their own backyard.
