Registering a commanding victory over South Africa, New Zealand beat the visitors to record their 281-run triumph in the first Test match at Bay Oval. The standout performances from Kane Williamson and Rachin Ravindra stood tall to hand New Zealand their magnificent win in the first game. New Zealand’s batting attack led by Williamson and Rachin Ravindra thwarted South Africa, guiding New Zealand to a popular win.

Meanwhile, New Zealand's evergreen batting maestro, Kane Williamson, once again showcased his class with his massive centuries across both innings, displaying the skill and composure that he is known for. His century coupled with Rachin Ravindra’s knock proved to be a vital contribution to New Zealand's imposing total.

Rachin Ravindra and Kane Williamson churned out 240 and 118 in the first innings to propel the side to a huge 511-run total. In reply, South Africa could post 162 runs with Keegan Petersen being the top-scorer with 45 runs. In the second innings, New Zealand declared their innings for 179/4 wherein Kane Williamson again came out with 109-run knock.

New Zealand's bowlers also played a pivotal role in securing victory. The first innings saw Matt Henry and Mitchell Santner wreaking havoc on the South African batting lineup. In the second innings, Kyle Jamieson and Mitchell Santner led their relentless attack, showing accuracy and variations in their spell.

For South Africa, they were in the pursuit of a mammoth target of 529, which they failed to close in after being bowled out for 247. David Bedingham played the impressive knock of 87 runs in the second innings, but that could not save South Africa from suffering a heavy loss. This victory was also New Zealand’s second-largest Test victory by runs.
