New Zealand have been served with a huge jolt after their batter Daryl Mitchell was ruled out of New Zealand’s second Test match against South Africa. Not only that, Mitchell will also not be Participating in New Zealand’s upcoming T20I series against Australia that will present as a distressing setback to the team.

The cause behind Mitchell’s absence is his foot injury that he’s been reeling from for a long period. New Zealand Cricket decided to give some time off to Mitchell to recover from his injury. In the first Test, Mitchell collected (34) and (11*) runs as New Zealand recorded their 281-run win.

New Zealand head coach Gary Stead feels that this is the right time for Daryl Mitchell to have his rehabilitation time.

“Daryl is a hugely important member of the squad in all three formats and ensuring he is in the best shape is vital with the period of matches to come,” said New Zealand head coach Gary Stead.

“Based on the schedule ahead, now is an appropriate time to complete a period of rehabilitation.”

Will Young remains the fitting replacement for Mitchell, however, New Zealand haven’t yet named their replacement for Daryl Mitchell for the second Test.
