WPL 2024: Mumbai Indians lock horns with Delhi Capitals in the opener
As the second edition of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) returns, Mumbai Indians Women will be squaring off against Delhi Capitals Women in the opening match of the tournament on Friday at M.Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Mumbai Indians Women, who are the defending champions will look to kick off their campaign on a winning note.
Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals Women, who would enter the game as runner-up, would look to leave the past behind and start with a new vigour.
Mumbai Indians Women will be led by Harmanpreet Kaur, entering the tournament as one of the favorites, considering their groundbreaking performance last year. Boasting a star-studded lineup including the likes of Hayley Matthews, Amelia Kerr, Pooja Vastrakar and Nat Sciver-Brunt among others, the team exudes experience, skill, and firepower in both batting and bowling departments.
On the other side, Delhi Capitals Women are gearing up for a fierce battle under the leadership of incredible Meg Lanning. The team will be determined to make its mark in this edition of the tournament after being runner-up in the first edition. They have explosive batters in the form of players like Jess Jonassen, Laura Harris, Annabel Sutherland and Shafali Verma.
