It turned out to be a dream debut for Indian pacer Akash Deep, who jolted England with three crucial wickets in the form of Ben Duckett, Ollie Pope and Zak Crawley on day one of the fourth Test match between India and England in Ranchi on Friday. India have put early pressure on England with their bowlers giving no room for England batters to collect runs.

Ahead of the lunch, India veteran Ravichandaran Ashwin took out Jonny Bairstow who was leading England’s comeback alongside Joe Root. Soon after Bairstow's departure, R Jadeja sent back Stokes to bring England five down. At lunch, England were 112/5 with Joe Root unbeaten on (16) as he will be joined by Ben Foakes post lunch.

Earlier, England skipper Ben Stokes decided to bat after winning the toss as England eye a victory to keep themselves alive in the series, having already suffered their defeats in the second and third match to go 1-2 down in the five-match series. Heading into this game, England made two changes with Ollie Robinson and Shoaib Bashir coming in for Mark Wood and Rehan Ahmed.

India, on the other hand, brought Dhruv Jurel and Akash Deep into the lineup. Pacer Jasprit Bumrah has been rested for the fourth Test.
