BPL 2024: Fortune Barishal win their maiden title, trounce Comilla Victorians in the final

In a gripping showdown, Fortune Barishal etched their name in the annals of Bangladesh Premier League history, clinching their maiden BBL title on Friday at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium. Fortune Barishal overpowered the formidable Comilla Victorians to secure a memorable 6-wicket victory, rocking to their first-ever title win.
Chasing a modest total of 154, Fortune Barishal got off to a blistering start with Tamim Iqbal and Mehidy Hasan Miraz scoring (39) and (29) respectively, setting the foundation for team’s victory. In the middle, Kyle Mayers played a whirlwind knock of (46), further strengthening the chances for team’s victory. Down the order, Mahmudullah and David miller remained unbeaten on (7) and (8) respectively to take the team over the line.
Fortune Barishal's journey to the title was nothing short of remarkable. Throughout the tournament, they exhibited exceptional teamwork, consistency, and adaptability, which propelled them to the summit clash. The team sported a perfect balance of experienced players and promising young talents, making them a formidable force on the field.
Earlier, put into bat, Comilla Victorians, who have won the four titles in the BPL, including in the last two editions, were restricted to 154 with Barishal’s James Fuller returning with two crucial wickets. Mahidul Islam (38) was the top-scorer for Victorians as it couldn’t be enough for powerhouse Comila Victorians to win the title.
