WPL 2024: Race for playoffs intensifies as Gujarat Giants take on UP Warriorz
As the riveting Women’s Premier League nears its business end, the race for playoffs has sharpened among the teams. In the 18th match of the tournament, Gujarat Giants will be confronting UP Warriorz on Monday at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Gujarat Giants remain in a grim situation, languishing at the bottom with one victory from their six games.
Gujarat Giants carry very little chance to make it to the playoffs after their poor performance during the league games. However, they can make it to the playoffs if they win their remaining two games and hope that Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals outplay Royal Challengers Bangalore.
On the other hand, UP Warriorz, who are on the fourth place in the points table, will need to overcome Gujarat Giants to secure their place into the playoffs. Warriorz have had three victories from seven games, suffering four defeats. In their last game, UP Warriorz thrashed Delhi Capitals by a mere margin of one run.
Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians have sealed their spots into the playoffs with their victories in their past games. Delhi Capitals are the latest team to qualify for the playoffs with their win over Royals Challengers Bangalore on Sunday. Mumbai Indians thrashed Gujarat Giants to qualify for the playoffs.
