Kohli’s dazzling 77, Karthik’s monstrous hitting power RCB to a notable win
In an impressive victory, Royal Challengers Bengaluru secured their first victory of the ongoing IPL by defeating Punjab Kings by four wickets on Monday at MA Chidambaram Stadium. Virat Kohli, leading from the front, knocked off a match-winning 77-run knock, while Dinesh Karthik played a crucial role, finishing the game in style with his unbeaten (28) off just (10) deliveries.
RCB, who had faced a setback in their previous match against CSK, entered this game with a renewed determination to turn their fortunes around. Earlier, winning the toss and electing to field, RCB restricted PBKS to a manageable total of 176/6 in (20), with Maxwell and Siraj returning with two wickets each.
Notable contributions for PBSK came from skipper Shikhar Dhawan, Sam Curran and Jitesh Sharma scoring (45), (23) and (27) respectively.
In pursuit of the target, RCB got off to a rocky start, with their crucial players Faf du Plessis and Cameron Green losing their wickets for low scores. However, it was the knock of Virat Kohli that turned the tide in RCB's favor. Kohli, known for his masterful batting prowess, showcased skills once again with a composed innings, anchoring the chase and guiding his team closer to victory.
Karthik, on the other hand, played a crucial role with his heavy hitting, leading the team to a marvellous win.
