“RCB need that glue in the middle overs”: AB de Villiers’ suggestion to Virat Kohli
It’s been a perplexing start for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the ongoing Indian Premier League 2024, having suffered three defeats in their last four games. It has come as a huge disappointment not only for RCB but their fans as well.
Despite boasting a superbly outstanding lineup, RCB have failed to fire on all cylinders. The biggest concern for RCB has been the form of their highly-skilled players Faf du Plessis, Glenn Maxwell and Rajat Patidar who haven’t quite been able to find their mojo in the past matches. Aside from Virat Kohli, no other RCB batter has been able to make bigger contributions.
Currently, Virat Kohli is the leading scorer in the tournament with (203) runs from four games. Virat Kohli is the orange cap holder in the tournament, being the highest run scorer so far. Amidst RCB’s flurry of defeats, Former RCB player AB de Villiers has suggested Virat Kohli should bat in the middle order.
"Hopefully, he (Virat Kohli) keeps going with his good start, because RCB need that glue in the middle overs. We need him to get through the first six (overs), that’s ultimately how I want to see him play. Let Faf take more risk upfront, but Virat, I want you to be there over 6-15. That is when RCB is going to fire from all cylinders. Watch out for that."
"RCB... not a bad start but not great. It is in the middle, and they need a couple of wins. They will be hitting the road and hopefully, they find a good fortune away from home before they come back to the Chinnaswamy,” said de Villiers.
